“John Dumеlo Rеcеivеs Backlash for Walking Barеfoot from Accra to Kumasi to Gain Political Ground”

Ghanaians have reacted to aspiring Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso constituency, John Dumelo, following through on a promise to walk barefooted. This unusual promise was made prior to the Grand Finale of the National Science & Maths Quiz competition, where Dumelo pledged to walk backward barefooted if his alma mater, Achimota School, were to lose to Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, also known as Presec.

The Grand Finale of the NSMQ unfolded at the National Theater recently, featuring three formidable schools – Opoku Ware School, Achimota School, and Presec. Unfortunately for Dumelo, Achimota fell short in the contest and lost to Presec, who have now been crowned the champions of the NSMQ for the eighth time.

To honor his promise, Dumelo proceeded to walk barefoot, a decision that has drawn mixed reactions from the public. Some Ghanaians applauded his commitment to his word, while others expressed skepticism, interpreting his actions as a calculated move to curry favor ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary elections.

The Ayawaso constituency will soon be deciding whether Dumelo’s barefooted pledge and subsequent follow-through have earned him their trust and votes. It remains to be seen whether this act will have any substantial impact on the upcoming elections.
