G8: Thе Yеar of Exilе for Eight Top Nollywood Stars Ovеr High Fее Dеmands

Eight top Nollywood actors were once banned from the industry for a year due to their high fee demands. The group, referred to as the G8, included Jim Iyke, Genevieve Nnaji, Richard Mofe Damijo, Ramsey Nouah and many others.

These actors were some of the most sought-after stars in Nollywood, and producers were reportedly struggling to meet their high fees. As a result, they were handed a one-year ban from appearing in any Nollywood productions. Some of them, like Stella Damasus, Omotola Jalade and Genevieve Nnaji, tried to pursue music careers during the ban, but without much success.

All eight actors returned to film acting once the ban was lifted. Check out the list below:

1. Jim Iyke

A native of Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria. She is fourth in an eight-child household. Her upbringing was middle class. Her mother taught in Lagos State and her father was an engineer. She studied Theatre Arts at the University of Lagos after attending Methodist Girls College Yaba. Over 200 films have featured her since joining Nollywood in 1997.

His age is 56. Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) attended Midwest College in Warri and Anglican Grammar School in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, after finishing elementary school. Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) earned a Bachelor of Theatre Arts from University of Benin in Edo State, Nigeria, after graduating from secondary school.
