Eight top Nollywood actors were once banned from the industry for a year due to their high fee demands. The group, referred to as the G8, included Jim Iyke, Genevieve Nnaji, Richard Mofe Damijo, Ramsey Nouah and many others.
These actors were some of the most sought-after stars in Nollywood, and producers were reportedly struggling to meet their high fees. As a result, they were handed a one-year ban from appearing in any Nollywood productions. Some of them, like Stella Damasus, Omotola Jalade and Genevieve Nnaji, tried to pursue music careers during the ban, but without much success.
All eight actors returned to film acting once the ban was lifted. Check out the list below:
1. Jim Iyke
Jim Iyke is a notable Nollywood actor, producer, director, hip hop rapper, model, and entrepreneur. His birthdate is September 25, 1976, in Libreville, Gabon. His age is 41. A native of Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria. She is fourth in an eight-child household. Her upbringing was middle class. Her mother taught in Lagos State and her father was an engineer. She studied Theatre Arts at the University of Lagos after attending Methodist Girls College Yaba. Over 200 films have featured her since joining Nollywood in 1997.
3. Richard Mofe Damijo
Celebrity Nollywood actor, director, producer, investor, politician, and philanthropist Richard Mofe Damijo is known as RMD. He was born in Warri, Delta State, south-south Nigeria, on July 6, 1961. His age is 56. Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) attended Midwest College in Warri and Anglican Grammar School in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, after finishing elementary school. Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) earned a Bachelor of Theatre Arts from University of Benin in Edo State, Nigeria, after graduating from secondary school. He then earned a Master of Law from Lagos University. Over 250 films have starred RMD since joining Nollywood in 1995.
4. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is a Nollywood actress, singer, model, businesswoman, and philanthropist. She was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on February 7, 1978. Born in Ondo State, Nigeria, she grew up in Lagos. At 42, she’s elderly. Oxford Children School Lagos, Chrisland Primary School Lagos, and Command Secondary School Kaduna were her schools. She earned diplomas and degrees in estate management from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife and Yaba College of Technology Lagos. Over 230 films have featured her since joining Nollywood in 1995.
5. Owoh
Nollywood humorous actor, producer, comedian, and TV personality Osuofia is Nkem Owoh. Born October 17, 1960, in Amagu Village, Udi Town, Enugu State, Nigeria. His age is 59. He studied electrical engineering at the University of Ilorin after primary and secondary school. His electrical engineering studies were completed at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu. 6. Stella Damasus
Nollywood actress, producer, singer, TV personality, and model Stella Damasus is famous. She was born in Benin City, Edo State, south-south Nigeria, on April 24, 1978. At 42, she’s elderly. Stella Damasus has 4 sisters. Her basic schooling and First School Leaving Certificate were completed in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. 7. Ike Emeka

He is from Aba-branch in Ehime Mbano LGA, Imo State, southeast Nigeria. He was raised in Lagos, western Nigeria. His pastor father, Elder Nicolas Ignatius Ike, died.
